Calla lily flowers are fabulous--from white to "black" with
shades of pink, rose, burgundy, purple, yellow, apricot, and
even "green" in between. Long used by florists,
callas are fast becoming popular for use in outdoor gardens,
container planting, cut flowers and wedding arrangements.
Calla lily plants usually grow less than 2 feet tall, and love
bright, morning light with some afternoon shade. They are the
happiest grown in soil that has been supplemented with organic
matter, kept moist, and fertilized monthly.
Being frost-sensitive, they can be left in the ground in zones
8-10, but in colder areas, the rhizomes should be lifted after the
first frost, cleaned and dried, then stored in a dry location that
ranges between 50-60 degrees (F) in temperature.
